NUSRI-CQ harnesses the entrepreneurial resources and global innovation network of NUS Enterprise to drive technology transfer and commercialisation, international tech-startup incubation, and global expansion in Chongqing. Through NUSRI China and NUS Enterprise’s BLOCK71, NUS has built a dynamic entrepreneurial ecosystem in China supporting over 100 start-ups and connecting early-stage ventures to global markets and partners.
As an innovation hub for Central and Western China, BLOCK71 at NUSRI-CQ bridges the university’s world-class research with a global entrepreneurial network, advancing sectors such as new materials and intelligent manufacturing, new energy, and life health. Leveraging NUS Enterprise’s credibility and global reach, NUSRI-CQ attracts high-tech start-ups worldwide and fosters two-way technology exchange between China and Singapore, strengthening cross-border innovation and regional growth.



To implement the initiatives of “One Belt and One Road", "China-Singapore Strategic Connectivity" and "Chengdu-Chongqing Twin City Economic Circle", it is critical to develop multi-cultural talents with global experience and mind-set. NUSRI-CQ will offer a variety of programs, including PhD and MSc by research, executive training and student exchanges in collaboration with local institutions. NUSRI-CQ intends to serve as the talent development platform, playing important roles in connecting Chongqing with Singapore, ASEAN and beyond.
NUSRI-CQ has established three key fields: New Materials and Intelligent Manufacturing, New Energy, and Health and Life Sciences. These fields are designed to transcend traditional disciplinary boundaries and foster deeper interdisciplinary integration, thereby enhancing our capacity to address global challenges and contribute to local industrial development strategies.
NUSRI-CQ has appointed professors, associate professors, and assistant professors from NUS as academic leads for each field. Leading local research teams, these experts conduct high-level scientific research, facilitate in-depth international collaborative projects, and implement high-end R&D talent development initiatives—all focusing on these three cutting-edge domains. Through these efforts, NUSRI-CQ is committed to translating original research outcomes into an innovation engine that drives regional industrial upgrading.
