From 88 to ∞ | NUSRI-CQ Welcomes YOU, Class of 2023

NUS (Chongqing) Research Institute (NUSRI-CQ) welcomed students (Class of 2023) of “3+1+1” Joint Educational Programme on 4th September 2023. In the next 10 months, 88 new students will continue their quest ahead at NUSRI-CQ.
 
At NUSRI-CQ, A New Chapter Starts
On the registration day, each student received a welcome package containing student cards and welcome gifts prepared by NUSRI-CQ. Many of the students came with their parents. After seeing the building and conducive learning environment of NUSRI-CQ, talking to the friendly staff of NUSRI-CQ, these parents handed their children over to the care of the institute without hesitation.  A new chapter starts at NUSRI-CQ for these 88 students.
 
From "88" to ""
The reversed number "8" coincidentally presents the symbol of infinity: "∞". When we have 88 new students gather at NUSRI-CQ, we see the endless possibilities” from the new integrations.
Speech by Professor John Wang
At the opening ceremony, Professor John Wang, director of NUSRI-CQ, expressed his warmly welcome to the students and encouraged them to take full advantage of the resources at NUSRI-CQ to enhance research capabilities and overall skills so that they can get well prepared for the future.
Speech by Professor Liang Yung-Chii
Professor Liang Yung-Chii from NUS-ECE provided valuable advice to students on “how to spend a meaningful year at NUSRI-CQ”. He suggested that students strike a balance between study and life, exploring academic challenges and experiencing local cultures as well.

Speech by Guo Yanru as a student representative
Reasons for students choosing “3+1+1” Programme vary. Guo Yanru as a student representative shared her own story at the opening ceremony. She said that though there’s no guarantee of comfort or payback, what 3+1+1 programme can bring to everyone in the class is the readiness for the future challenges.
Speech by Ms Vivian Fu
At the end of the one-hour ceremony, Ms Vivian Fu, Associate Director (Education) of NUSRI-CQ, delivered a concluding speech. She inspired students to integrate the spirit of autonomy, enthusiasm, aggregation, and inclusiveness into their life and study in the forthcoming study year at NUSRI-CQ.
